UW Human Resources has an opening for a Human Resources Consultant to join the dynamic and impactful Campus HR Operations team!

The Human Resources Consultants on this collaborative and supportive teamindependently advise units and all employee populations (staff academic personnel and student employees) using in-depth knowledge of federal state and University policies including faculty code and collective bargaining agreements. Campus Human Resources Consultants support client departments in all functions of employee relations: performance management complaints investigations grievances and contract/policy interpretation.


Key Responsibilities

Performance Management Corrective Action and Employment Separation -

Provide consultative advice and educate clients regarding performance management corrective action layoff and dismissal.

Complaint Resolution -

Provide guidance to managers and supervisors responding to employee complaints. Conduct or assist managers with investigations to resolve allegations and work with parties to facilitate resolution of employee concerns. Provide information to employees regarding complaint resolution options. Negotiate settlements and prepare settlement agreements.

Policy Rule and Law Interpretation -

Evaluate organizational practices for compliance with laws rules policies and faculty code. As necessary develop HR practice recommendations that comply with legal requirements while meeting operational needs. Develop implementation strategies that maintain continuity of operations.

Training -

Conduct formal and informal training sessions regarding a variety of HR topics.

Labor Relations -

Educate and inform managers and supervisors regarding the interpretation and application of labor agreements. Assist in responding to and resolving employee grievances. May participate on contract negotiation teams.

Workplace Violence -

Provide counsel and assistance to client departments in prevention of and response to workplace violence including assessment referral and case management.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field and at least four years of increasingly responsible senior human resources experience OR equivalent combinations of experience/education.

Additional Qualifications
Excellent analytical written and oral communications skills and technical proficiency using word processing email and the internet is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of state & federal employment laws.
Experience working in human resources in a higher education institution.
Experience working in human resources in a unionized environment.

Working Conditions

This position is hybrid at least two days per week in office.

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$90000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$110628.00 annual
