Job Summary
This social work position is located within the Transgender and Intersex Specialty Care Clinic (TISCC) at Mayo Clinic this role the social worker is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team delivering integrated gender-affirming care to transgender gender diverse and intersex individuals. The clinic services include medical therapy psychosocial support and surgery all guided by a commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment that inspires hope and promotes health and well-being. The social worker is essential to ensure that each patient receives comprehensive and compassionate psychosocial care from a collaborative team.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting diagnostic assessment determining clinical interventions facilitating crisis intervention and short-term psychotherapy and provides education for patients and their families.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external support systems.
- Participating in the development and implementation of the treatment/transition plan.
- Functioning as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Functioning within the research practice and education shields at Mayo Clinic.
- Complying with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing.
This position includes specified billable patient contact hours dependent upon assigned unit/site.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position you must have a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and two years supervised therapy experience in behavioral health and/or medical social work including diagnostic assessment individual group and family therapy.
Licensure/Certification
Florida LCSW/LICSW license to practice independently at the clinical level as required by applicable state requirements.
Additional Qualifications
- Clinical experience with population to be served is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of mental illness personality development and the types of treatment and skills in conducting individual group and family therapy.
- Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis and chronic disease.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients patients family members consultants residents hospital personnel community agencies and other resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
- Psychosocial diagnostic skills.

International Degrees
