Job Summary

BHS RISE / BRIDGE TEACHERS ESY PROGRAM

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bridge/RISE Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students participating in an Extended School Year (ESY) program focused on maintaining skills promoting independence and supporting transition and readiness for post-secondary environments. This role emphasizes individualized instruction social-emotional development and community-based learning experiences designed to meet the diverse needs of students including those with autism and other disabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Planning for instruction of students to maintain skills information and behaviors per IEP
  • Supervision of paraprofessionals
  • Coordination of related service support
  • Safety Care trained and/or willingness to be trained
  • Assessment and communication of progress with teachers and service providers
  • Develop coordinate and implement field trips and community-based learning experiences aligned with students transition and life skills goals
  • Provide direct instruction in areas such as job readiness self-advocacy daily living skills and social skills
  • Maintain partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to expand student opportunities
  • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation including data collection and progress reporting
  • Support students in generalizing skills across school community and workplace settings
  • Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment

QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED

  • Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate or Severe Disabilities 9-12 required
  • Teaching experience with students on the autism spectrum
  • Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with community-based instruction life skills and transition planning preferred

SCHEDULE

  • July 6 2026 - August 13 2026
  • All staff report for a full day on July 6th for orientation and classroom set-up. Students begin on July 7th
  • 9:00 - 2:00 Monday - Thursday
  • Additional 30 minutes per day for planning
  • One additional day to be completed prior to the end of the program allotted for progress report writing
