Production Support Engineer (Java PL/SQL Unix/Linux) Location: Toronto ON (Hybrid 4 days onsite)

Overview We are seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to support enterprise-grade applications within a banking/financial environment. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills hands-on scripting experience and the ability to manage high-priority production incidents while ensuring system stability and SLA compliance.
MUST HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - 6 years of Application/Production Support experience in enterprise environments (banking/financial domain preferred)
- Strong expertise in:
- Java (for debugging and root cause analysis)
- PL/SQL (data validation reconciliation and issue resolution)
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages:
- Shell Perl or Python (for batch processing & automation)
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex application and database issues in:
- Unix/Linux environments
- Cloud-hosted systems
- Experience with monitoring & observability tools:
- Dynatrace Splunk ITRS (or similar)
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes including:
- Incident Problem and Change Management
- Experience using ServiceNow (or equivalent ITSM tools)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Lead production support activities
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Ensure high availability and SLA adherence
NICE TO HAVE - Experience with DevOps/SRE practices
- Familiarity with:
- Jenkins Ansible CI/CD pipelines
- Strong SQL tuning and database performance optimization skills
- Knowledge of APIs (REST/SOAP) and tools like Postman
- Exposure to Kafka and microservices architecture

- Scripting: Shell Perl PowerShell
- Databases: Oracle MS SQL Server

Additional Requirements - Candidates must be local to Toronto
- Hybrid work model: 4 days onsite per week
