As a Physical Infrastructure System Administrator on the Site Reliability Engineering team you will be responsible for being a practitioner for the physical hardware configurations and virtualization solutions across Medavie. This role will ensure that all best practices are encouraged adopted and applied to the Medavie infrastructure and development projects of all types. This will be achieved by learning adapting and encouraging new processes and technologies throughout Medavie IT.

This position is within the Medavie Shared Services IT team and will be working with IT staff across Medavie Inc. Medavie Blue Cross Medavie Health Services and our partner Blue Cross organizations.

At Medavie an Infrastructure System Administrator will be responsible for learning and supporting the automation and implementation of routine maintenance tasks of our physical and virtual environment; supporting and troubleshooting issues on our physical and onpremises server infrastructure; delivering operational and project-specific solutions for internal objectives; and performing other routine and emergency tasks. This is not a Cloud Engineering rolethis position is for a team member to support managing and administering onpremises IT infrastructure.

This role will also ensure continuous support of implemented technologies including but not limited to oncall rotations patching afterhours implementation and application development team support. This role shares focus between:

Physical hardware and virtualization
Containerization and automation

The successful candidate will have experience managing physical server installation and configuration (i.e. rack and stack) specifically in the deployment of critical virtualization and maintenance solutions and experience with virtualization solutions such as VMware and HyperV.

Key Responsibilities:

Supports the design development and documentation of the deployment management policy process and some procedures
Supports the assessment analysis planning and design of release deployment packages including assessment of risk and audit compliance
Contributes to the availability management process and its operation; performs defined availability management tasks
Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all agreed performance targets and service levels
Works with Unix Windows Platform Engineering Network Database and other infrastructure teams to implement endtoend solutions
Ensures monitoring and selfhealing strategies are implemented and maintained to proactively prevent client disruptions
Leverages and implements virtualization and infrastructure for repeatable delivery and highly available client solutions
Responds to service requests interacts with internal teams provides technical support and provisions necessary server infrastructure services and components for various projects

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree or College Diploma in a related field of study and/or equivalent experience
Experience: Minimum 5 years in a data centre operations/system administration role

Other Qualifications:

2 years of experience working with physical hardware in a data centre (servers networks and cabling storage)
5 years of experience with virtualization solutions including VMware vSphere
2 years of experience with server administration (Windows and Linux)
3 years of experience in data centre management and disaster recovery solutions/technologies

Language Skills: English written and spoken. French would be considered an asset.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting Criminal Record Check Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
