Who We Are:
Heritage Park is Canadas largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings costumed interpreters working antiques and various exhibits that provide insight into the regions past.
Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Banquet Operations Supervisor the Banquet Captain performs a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of catered functions and events at Heritage Park. This role provides leadership to Banquet staff and volunteers and ensures exceptional guest service and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to Banquet staff and volunteers to ensure table settings and floor plans are properly executed for each event.
- Executing the event start to end ensuring the SOPs and standards are met
- Manage staffing level based on the business demand
- Ensure venues are stocked with appropriate supplies and clean prior to guest arrival including washroom checks.
- Support event logistics by assisting with set-up clean-up and food and beverage service throughout the event.
- Maintain effective communication with the Kitchen before and during service to coordinate food delivery and timing.
- Serve as an expeditor and/or bartender when required.
- Monitor bar and supply inventories; act as verifier and communicate needs or shortages to the Banquet Supervisor.
- Greet guests warmly handle inquiries or concerns professionally and act as the liaison between Heritage Park and the event organizer.
- Ensure adherence to AGLC regulations Alberta Health standards and Heritage Park policies.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park

Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in hospitality or a related field is an asset.
- 12 years of experience in a food and beverage or banquet environment.
- Valid Alberta ProServe license is required
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced constantly changing environment and focus attention on guest needs remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Exceptional multitasking abilities to manage both serving and bartending duties simultaneously
- Excellent memory and attention to detail for remembering drink orders and preferences
- Familiarity with AGLC regulations and commitment to responsible alcohol service
- Strong organizational skills to efficiently manage bar inventory and supplies
- Effective communication skills for interacting with guests and coordinating with other staff
- Ability to adapt to various guest preferences and customize drinks accordingly
- All successful candidates (over 18) will be required to undergo a Police Information Check as a condition of employment
Special Clothing and Equipment:
- Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park if applicable; and
- Footwear as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department will be provided by the employee.
Special Working Conditions:
- The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and
- This position is physically demanding and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods
Hours of Work:
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings weekends and holidays; weekend availability is preferred
