Drilling Engineer

About this opportunity:

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Drilling Engineer to join our Delineation / Heavy Oil this role you will lead well planning activities through to a drillready state and provide engineering support during execution. You will play a key role in delivering safe costeffective drilling programs while working closely with a broad set of technical and operational partners across our Heavy Oil assets including Lloyd Thermal Sunrise Foster Creek and Christina Lake.

What youll do:

• Lead drilling engineering activities from initial planning through execution and postwell evaluations for delineation and heavy oil wells.

• Design execute and continuously improve drilling programs including well objectives risk reviews Basis of Design documents cost estimates and detailed drilling programs.

• Support field operations to ensure well objectives are achieved while driving improvements in safety schedule and cost performance.

• Ensure all drilling activities comply with regulatory safety and environmental requirements.

• Monitor costs cycle times and key performance indicators to improve efficiency and operational consistency.

• Collaborate closely with Geology Reservoir Completions Production Engineering Supply Chain and Program Management throughout the full well lifecycle.

• Conduct postwell analyses and project lookbacks to capture lessons learned and embed continuous improvement.

• Research and evaluate innovative drilling techniques and designs to enhance performance and reduce costs.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.

• Approximately 5 years of oil and gas engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience direct drilling experience.

• SAGD or heavy oil experience considered an asset.

• Strong technical capability with experience in drilling hydraulics and torque & drag modeling preferred.
