Seasonal Labourer 1 Parks (2026-11)

Do you enjoy working outdoors and you have a desire to learn and you are highly motivated If so the City of Mission is seeking an energetic hard-working individual with excellent work ethic to work seasonally in the Parks Recreation and Culture Department. 

Seasonal labourers assist in parks and cemeteries operations and maintenance including: grounds and building maintenance; gardening; pruning; fence repair; lawn maintenance; brushing; gravesite preparation; playground maintenance trail maintenance and construction field and irrigation system installation and maintenance; minor repairs and construction and related tasks.

Qualifications :

You must possess the ability to work both independently and in a team setting and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You must be skilled in the proper and safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment and machinery common to general construction and maintenance work. You must enjoy working outdoors and have sufficient physical strength stamina and coordination required to perform heavy manual labour in all types of weather.

As an ideal candidate you will have recent experience in general construction and maintenance work including parks operation and maintenance tasks and you will be working towards a certificate in parks maintenance or a horticulture education program or possess other relevant post-secondary education. You will have knowledge of and experience with industry-relevant equipment tools and applicable safety and health standards. You must possess a valid Class 5 BC drivers license with a clean driving record and undergo a Police Information Check.

Additional Information :

The 2025 hourly rate for a seasonal labourer is $33.53 plus 12.4% in lieu of all benefits. These seasonal assignments start in May and end at the end of August. Seasonal labourers work four nine-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm and may include weekend shifts. The schedule for this position is Wednesday to Saturday.
