Caterpillar is looking for a Category Buyer to join our procurement organization and help deliver maximum value across our supply network.

Your job duties may include

• Executing category strategies aligned to Senior Buyer and ELITE CPPD team
• Identifying cost reduction inventory optimization and quality improvement opportunities while evaluating business proposals and risks
• Acting as the main point of contact between Caterpillar and suppliers ensuring alignment with production needs and capabilities
• Monitoring documenting and managing supplier performance related to delivery responsiveness and production reliability
• Supporting strategic sourcing initiatives continuous process improvement and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and contracts through the use of procurement systems and tools

You will have

• A university degree or equivalent practical experience
• Working knowledge of purchasing tasks procurement processes and contract compliance
• Data analytics skills with the ability to collect analyze interpret and present business-related data to support decision-making
• Strong communication skills in English both written and verbal with the ability to clearly present information and collaborate effectively
• The ability to build productive relationships across functions and with external suppliers
• A proactive analytical mindset with attention to detail and continuous improvement

Top candidates will also have

• Detail oriented project management experience
• Experience with category management strategic sourcing or supplier relationship management
• Basic understanding of negotiation principles and contract administration
• Experience working with ERP or procurement systems
• The ability to adapt communication and collaboration styles to different stakeholders and situations
