The Safety Engineer/officer will be responsible for monitoring the contractors activities on-site issuing safety notices and conducting induction and other safety-related training. This role requires a hands-on approach with the Safety Engineer being on foot throughout the day to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
The specific duties include the following:
Organization chart: Part of the H&S department of Heidelberg materials for MOKRA Modernization Project. Directly report and receive orders from the H&S Manager.
On-Site Monitoring: Actively supervise the contractors activities on the construction site to ensure adherence to Heidelberg materials standards safety protocols regulations and care of the environment. Participate in H&S meetings.
Issue Safety Notices: Identify safety violations and issue notices or corrective actions to address any non-compliance. Give proposals for application of the Punch procedure in case of violations.
Conduct Training: Lead safety induction training for new workers and ongoing safety training sessions for all site personnel.
Risk Assessment: Check the risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
Incident Investigation: Support Investigations in case of any accidents or incidents to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure continuous compliance with safety standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections work permit systems training sessions site and incident reports and all other safety related documentation.
Emergency Response: Support development and implementation of the emergency response plans and conduct safety drills.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in safety management engineering construction management or related field will be considered as advantage.
Minimum 3 years experience in safety engineering role within the heavy industrial construction and Cement plants will be considered as advantage.
Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work on foot for extended periods and perform physical inspections
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to take decisions.
Proficiency in safety management software and tools
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Suite.
Ability to work in international work environment.
Fluency in English
