What youll be doing

As a Software Engineer Backend in the Consumer Growth Team youll play a key role in shaping the future of digital payments by designing and building scalable features that drive user growth and reduce friction for our community. Heres what your day-to-day will look like:

• Own the Story Lifecycle: Take full ownership of the end-to-end lifecyclefrom technical design to production releaseensuring that product stories are robust and scalable.

• Accelerate Activation & Trust: Build and optimise high-reliability systems for onboarding document verification and security flows to ensure users can start transacting safely in minutes.

• Drive Engagement & Discovery: Enhance the app experience by developing core backend services for shop discovery and personalised consumer journeys.

• Scale Loyalty & Monetisation: Build the technical foundation for user retention contributing to Plus subscription plans referral programs and loyalty mechanics.

• Master a Modern Tech Stack: Take ownership of our AWS-based infrastructure and participate in architectural improvements across our growth-focused microservices.

• Work in an AI-Powered Environment: Leverage AI tools daily to write and optimise code speed up root cause analysis and generate documentation to raise engineering efficiency.

• Ensure Quality and Stability: Conduct technical analysis accurately estimate effort and participate in incident resolution to ensure system health.

• Collaborate & Document: Create comprehensive technical documentation and collaborate cross-functionally with Product and stakeholders to align with the roadmap.

• Experience: You have at least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong track record of building and maintaining scalable microservices.

• Technical Foundations: Solid expertise in Java and Spring Boot with a good understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and cloud environments (AWS is a plus).

• Growth Mindset: You care about performance and user experience understanding how technical improvements in onboarding or loyalty flows impact millions of users.

• Reliability & Documentation: You are structured in your approach enjoy writing clear technical documentation and focus on building maintainable high-quality code.

• Teamwork and Communication: You excel at cross-functional collaboration and can communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical peers.

• Language proficiency: You are passionate about FinTech user growth or startup environments and are fluent in English.
