From our office in the town of Frascati (Rome) CGI Italy helps scientists and entrepreneurs in processing Earth Observation data using cutting edge IT technologies to streamline big data analytics.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on professional experience in the Earth Observation domain.
Deep knowledge of EO source data data processing techniques and operational EO applications.
Familiarity with EO data catalogues and OGC standards
Proven technical competence in Cloud and Big Data including parallel and distributed processing.
Hands-on experience with major Cloud provider.
Experience with container technologies and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience in software architecture design for large-scale data processing systems.
Solid understanding of modern software development practices: TDD CI/CD code review processes
Fluent spoken and written English (required for international project collaboration).

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Desirable Qualifications

Degree and/or Masters in Computer Science Computer Engineering Geomatics or a related discipline.
Experience with ESA Copernicus or other space agency programme frameworks.
Knowledge of geospatial processing libraries (e.g. GDAL SNAP rasterio xarray).
Experience with distributed processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark Dask) in an EO context.
Familiarity with STAC (SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog) and cloud-optimised geospatial formats (e.g. Cloud-Optimised GeoTIFF Zarr).
Previous experience in a client-facing technical role or pre-sales support.
