Job Summary
1. SUMMARY
Within NATOs International Staff (IS) the NATO Human Resources (NHR) Office is comprised of six pillars: Talent Management; Staff Services (Pay and Allowances Pensions and Insurances); HR Policy and Strategy Coordination (IS and NATO-wide HR policy); Organizational Design and Development the Data Analytics Section; and the Medical Service.
The nurse role is part of the Medical Service and as such is responsible for performing technical medical procedures including injections electrocardiograms eye and ear tests blood sampling vaccinations etc. for staff at NATO HQ.
The role includes assessing health conditions providing first-aid and emergency response when required as well as handling support duties of an administrative nature.
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The incumbent must:
possess an A1 graduate diploma relevant for the position or Bachelors degree of Science (BNS) in nursing (be State Registered);
have a minimum of 3 years post-related experience in nursing with proven ability to respond effectively in emergency care and/or high-pressure clinical situations;
have an excellent understanding of occupational health;
have strong organisational skills and the ability to handle administrative responsibilities in an efficient way; and
possess the following minimum levels of NATOs official languages (English/French): V (Advanced) in one; III (Intermediate) in the other.
The following would be considered an advantage:
solid clinical experience combined with a high level of professional judgment and autonomy.
3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Information Management: Collect categorise and track relevant information required for various tasks and projects. Store medical records and relevant statistics in appropriate formats. Draft different documents as necessary. Prepare orders for pharmaceutical and other supplies.
Stakeholder Management: Assist the Medical Officer and the Senior Nurse in occupational health and safety related tasks ensuring that staff is properly informed. Communicate with insurance pharmaceutical and other suppliers as needed.
Expertise Development: Give dispensary level care and assist the team in carrying out technical acts at NATO HQ. Give first aid and if necessary arrange for transfer to hospital for all NATO HQ occupants.
Project Management: Assist the team in deployment related activities on an ongoing basis. See to the maintenance of proper hygiene the sterilization of instruments and the cleanliness of the medical premises on a regular basis.
Perform any other related duty as assigned.
4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS
Reporting line: The incumbent reports to the Medical Officer.
Interactions: They will work with staff at NATO HQ on a wide range of safety and occupational health issues.

In accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations the successful candidate will receive a definite duration contract of three years which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract.
