About the team
The Systems Engineering team is in charge of the design of new spacecraft models the negotiation of technical system requirements the requirement verification plan and specification and the management and definition of systems budgets and interfaces.
The team is always learning and trying to push the limits relying in part on the large diversity of peoples profiles and backgrounds.
About the position
As a Systems Engineer for OBC & Data Handling you will be responsible for the technical integration and consistency of the subsystem. This role involves translating high-level mission objectives into technical requirements defining system architectures and ensuring seamless interfacing between software electronics and mechanical subsystems (Thermal Structural and AOCS).
You will actively participate in the design of next-generation On-Board Computers proposing innovative solutions defining robust architectures and selecting key technologies to meet future mission requirements. Beyond the design phase you will be a key driver in the technical execution and delivery of the subsystem.
The candidate will oversee the subsystems lifecycle from initial requirement definition and budget management to laboratory verification and mission operations support. The position requires a balance of analytical system-level oversight and hands-on technical validation.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Requirement Engineering: Define document and trace technical requirements for the OBC and Data Handling units throughout the project lifecycle.
- System Budgets & Overview: Maintain and optimize subsystem technical budgets (including power mass data throughput and memory allocation).
- Cross-functional Coordination: Serve as the technical point of contact for the subsystem ensuring alignment with Mechanical Thermal and Structural constraints.
- Verification & Validation (V&V) Support: Define verification strategies and provide technical support during the execution of test plans and functional validation campaigns.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Utilize laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes logic analyzers) to identify and resolve complex hardware/software interface issues.
- Network Architecture: Define and manage internal satellite communication networks and high-speed data interfaces.
- Mission Support: Provide technical expertise for the monitoring and optimization of on-orbit subsystem performance.
- Technical Documentation: Author and review Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and present technical status in design reviews (PDR CDR).

About you
Required Experience:
- BSc in Electronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Candidates with a Software Engineering degree will be considered if they demonstrate significant experience in hardware integration.
- 5 years of experience in engineering roles within complex interdisciplinary projects.
- Hands-on Coding Experience: Proven experience in software development or technical scripting (C/C or Python) specifically applied to hardware interfacing test automation or embedded systems.
- Proven experience in Systems Engineering methodologies and trade-off analysis.
Required Skills:
- Problem solving: Ability to analyze problems and search for solutions always exploring multiple alternatives.
- Communication: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in excellent Spanish and English at all hierarchical levels.
- Organization: Excellent people time and risk management skills.
- Systems Thinking: Understanding trade-offs basic engineering and budgets.
- Attitude: Empathy initiative accountability.
- Software Proficiency:
Solid understanding of C C and Python. Advanced knowledge of Linux environments. - Hardware & Electronics: Foundations in analog and digital electronics laboratory instrumentation (Oscilloscopes) and familiarity with FPGAs.
- Communication Protocols: Familiarity with high-speed data interfaces and standard industrial/aerospace communication protocols.
