Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice that proactively manages and delivers to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons 98 courts and 141 community correctional sites.
We are currently seeking a Senior Site Facilities Manager to join our team at the Department of Corrections in Rimutaka Prison. Our Senior Site Facilities Manager is a critical role with responsibility for leading a team ensuring on time and quality jobs delivery to our customer and delivering on the required financial outcomes of the Contract. To be successful in this role you will bring us strong people leaderships skills great relationship management skills good commercial acumen proven facilities management experience and a collaborative working style.
Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours.
What Youll Do
This role offers a broad scope with key responsibilities including:
Champion a proactive Zero Harm culture driving active engagement and safe work practices across all site operations
Lead and inspire the site team providing clear direction strong people leadership and alignment with company values
Build and maintain positive collaborative customer relationships ensuring all interactions are professional and solutions-focused
Deliver projects safely on time within budget and to quality/KPI standards while optimising productivity and resource utilisation
Oversee effective use of subcontractors and self-delivery teams to maximise efficiency and performance outcomes
Manage site financials and compliance including budgets KPIs and regulatory requirements (e.g. BWOF HSNO) ensuring full operational accountability

Minimum 3-5 years management level experience within the facilities industry
Strong analytical and numeric skills.
Proven financial skills and an ability to both manage costs and drive improved productivity.
Experience in driving operational activities to ensure quality is achieved work is completed to schedule and rework is minimised.
Current working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and proven commitment to Health & Safety.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong communicator who is able to work and achieve autonomously and as part of a team.
Intermediate level of computer literacy including MS Outlook Word and Excel.
Must hold a current full drivers license.
