We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Team Leader tojoin our Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice team and play a key role in our high performance Property Management team.Reporting toSenior Site Facilities Manageryoull help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

Te Kōwhiringa The Opportunity

Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice that proactively manages and delivers to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons 98 courts and 141 community correctional sites.

We now have an opportunity for a Senior Team Leader to join our team in Auckland based at the Mt Eden Corrections Facility. This position is full time with a guaranteed min 40 hours per week and will be responsible for asset maintenance team leadership and delivering excellent customer service to our client.

Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours.

What Youll Do

This role offers a broad scope with key responsibilities including:

  • Ensuring a safe and Zero Harm environment at the site.

  • A hands-on approach and you will be required to assist in the site-specific deliverables.

  • Proving direction and leadership to the internal self-delivery team (technicians).

  • Supporting of the Job Scheduler in the scheduling and planning of the activities of the internal self-delivery team and subcontractors to ensure safe timely and cost-effective completion.

  • Promoting strong collaborative customer relationships with positive interactions and playing a key support function in the absence of the Site Manager.

  • Delivering services and leading people in accordance with our Downer Values.

This is a fantastic role that will suit someone who is outcome-focused enjoys a challenge and is able to take initiative whilst building great relationships with our team and client.

Nga pūkenga matua Important Skills

  • Relevant trades background and qualifications (i.e.. electrical building plumbing HVAC)

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a trade environments and/or within facilities management industry

  • Demonstrated experience in operational leadership of a multi trade service delivery team.

  • Proven people management experience including coaching and developing team members managing performance and addressing employee relations matters.

  • Experience driving operational activities to ensure quality workmanship is achieved jobs are completed to schedule and on time and rework is minimised.

  • Computer literate including MS Outlook and MS Excel;

  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015;

  • Hold current full drivers license essential
