Position Overview:
Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Surgical/Operating Room Tech to fill an opening at a Healthcare Facility (Acute Care/Academic Medical Center) located in Syracuse New York. This role is ideal for an experienced CST with trauma center or teaching hospital experience who thrives in a fast-paced high-acuity surgical environment.

Qualifications:
- Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years).
- Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center teaching hospital or similar facility.
- Scrub experience required.
- First-time travelers must have experience in similarly sized/level hospitals.
- Technical Skills (Required Experience in the following specialties):
- Trauma
- Orthopedics (Ortho)
- General Surgery
- ENT
- Vascular
- GYN
- Additional Preferred Experience in the following specialties:
- Neurosurgery
- Bariatric
- GU (Genitourinary)
- Experience in Adult OR or equivalent specialty size
- No First Assist (per New York State regulation)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile technique under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with surgeons nurses and anesthesia staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field ensuring all surgical instruments supplies and equipment are set up correctly and functioning prior to procedures.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments sutures and sponges during operations anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
- Count sponges needles and instruments before during and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols at all times.
- Handle specimens appropriately and prepare them for laboratory analysis as directed.
- Assist with patient positioning prepping and draping prior to surgical incision.
- Clean and restock the operating room between cases including proper handling of contaminated instruments and disposal of sharps and biohazard waste.
- Monitor and maintain surgical equipment and instruments reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Collaborate with circulating nurses surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure efficient and safe patient care throughout the perioperative process.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with surgical techniques and technologies.
