Maclay School is looking for a MiddleSchoolScience teacher who combines strong teaching witha genuinecare for students. This is someone who knows that middle school learners do their best work when they feel known and supported and who creates a classroom where curiosity isencouragedand students are pushed to grow.

Key Responsibilities
Full-time instructor for MiddleSchoolScience with courses that may include Life Science or Physical Science.
Design learning experiences that promote inquiry critical thinking problem-solving and scientific reasoning.
Create andmaintaina classroom community that is warm structured and engaging where students feel safe to take intellectual risks and are also challenged to grow.
Incorporate lab work experimentation and hands-on learning experiences that deepenunderstanding ofscientific concepts.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning profiles using varied strategies representations and scaffolds to support student mastery.
Build systems that help students develop organization independence and ownership of their learning including opportunities for reflection and revision.
Integrate real-world applications and cross-disciplinary connections that help students see the relevance of science in everyday life.
Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across grade levels to support curricular alignment placement decisions and mission-aligned instruction.
Build positive relationships with families through cleartimelycommunication that supports student growth and strengthens the schoolhome partnership.
Engage fully in the life of the school by advising studentsparticipatingin campus activities and supporting Maclays commitment to whole-child education.
Contribute to a vibrant school culture by attending select after-school events that support community connection and student relationships.
Performadditionalresponsibilities that support the schools mission and daily functioning as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Science Science Education or a related fieldrequired; masters degree preferred.
Prior experience teaching middle school science preferred; experience in life science or physical sciencestronglyvalued.
Demonstrated skill in fostering inquiry scientific thinking and classroom discourse.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning reflection and continuous improvement.
Ability to build positive relationships with students while holding them to high academic and personal standards.
A genuine desire to help students see themselves as curious capable scientists.
Physical Requirements and ADA Statement
This role requires regular movement between classrooms and buildings active engagement in classroom instruction and the ability to navigate indoor and outdoor school environments. The position also requires the ability to sit stand walk communicate clearlyoperatestandard classroom technology and occasionally lift materials up to 2030 pounds.
