Job Title: Supervisor

Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company
Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of Extension/Conversion)
Location: Ankeny IA 50023
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM 2:30 PM; minimal overtime)

Job Summary:

Responsible for leading shop floor operations and managing production teams to meet safety quality delivery and cost objectives. Acts as a key liaison between hourly employees and management ensuring smooth manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise production and/or maintenance employees on assigned shift
• Drive safety quality delivery and efficiency goals through continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure employees have proper training tools and work instructions
• Monitor production performance and take corrective actions as needed
• Troubleshoot workmanship and quality issues on the shop floor
• Assign daily tasks manage staffing gaps and coordinate overtime
• Maintain compliance with company policies procedures and work rules
• Plan maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime
• Manage departmental budgets and control costs
• Lead employee engagement and maintain a positive work environment
• Implement and monitor safety programs and housekeeping standards

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 2 years of shop floor manufacturing experience
• Proven team leadership and people management skills
• Ability to work overtime weekends or different shifts as needed
• Strong communication skills across cross-functional teams (operations HR engineering supply chain)
• Problem-solving and decision-making ability in fast-paced environments

Preferred / Nice to Have:

• Experience with union/wage employee environments
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI) Lean or 5S methodologies
• Experience with CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plans)

Education:

• Bachelors degree OR 4 years of equivalent work experience
