Overview
The Director of Nursing Surgical Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across all surgical service areas. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient-centered care driving operational efficiency and maintaining compliance with clinical regulatory and organizational standards.
About the Facility
The facility is part of a nationwide healthcare network committed to improving community health outcomes. The Surgical Services department supports a wide range of inpatient and outpatient procedures including Bariatrics General Surgery Orthopedics Endoscopy ENT Urology and more. The department operates six main OR suites and is supported by approximately 80 full-time staff.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for Main OR Outpatient Surgery PACU Pre-Op Post-Op and Endoscopy
Monitor key performance metrics such as case volume turnover time block utilization and on-time starts
Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives
Oversee patient care delivery service quality and regulatory compliance
Manage staffing functions including hiring training performance evaluations and staff development
Prepare and manage departmental budgets ensuring efficient use of resources
Lead and coordinate internal and external audits
Foster a culture of professional growth and continuous improvement
Integrate evidence-based practices into clinical and operational workflows
Ensure consistent attendance and leadership presence
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure
Proven leadership experience in surgical services or perioperative settings
Strong knowledge of healthcare operations regulatory standards and quality metrics
Experience managing budgets staffing and performance improvement initiatives
Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills
