A respected midsize law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3 to 8 years of experience to join its San Diego office.
This position is best suited for an attorney with defense-side commercial litigation experience who is looking for a sophisticated and varied practice. The associate will work on a range of disputes and will be expected to take an active role in case strategy written advocacy discovery management and day-to-day litigation responsibilities.
The practice may include matters involving:
Business and commercial litigation
Probate and fiduciary litigation
Real estate litigation
Class actions
Other complex civil disputes
Candidates should be comfortable practicing in both California state and federal courts and prior experience in a mid-to-large law firm environment is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in handling complex litigation matters and support case strategy research and drafting of legal documents
Manage end-to-end discovery including drafting requests responses objections and resolving disputes
Handle day-to-day litigation tasks including court proceedings client coordination and managing multiple deadlines
Qualifications:
3 to 8 years of litigation experience with a focus on defense-side commercial matters
Experience litigating in California state and federal courts
Strong academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
Excellent legal research analytical and brief writing skills
Hands-on experience managing all aspects of discovery including:
Drafting and revising written discovery
Preparing discovery responses and objections
Handling or responding to discovery disputes
The ability to manage multiple matters competing deadlines and a fast-paced workload
Active California Bar admission (required; no exceptions)
