Position: Senior Data Platform Security Architect
Location: Remote
Duration: 8 Months
Job Type: Temporary/Contract

This position is open to both C2C and W2 consultants

Role Overview

• Lead the design implementation and governance of security across the data platform ecosystem
• Act as the authoritative voice on data security architecture
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering data compliance product and cybersecurity teams
• Ensure data infrastructure is secure resilient and compliant with regulatory standards
• Drive enterprise-wide data security strategy and best practices

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Security Architecture

• Architect and own end-to-end security frameworks for:
  • Data lakes
  • Data warehouses
  • Streaming pipelines
  • Analytics platforms
• Work with technologies such as:
  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Kafka
  • Spark

Security Standards & Controls

• Define and enforce data security standards:
  • Access control
  • Encryption (at rest & in transit)
  • Data masking and tokenization
  • Secrets management

Risk Management & Threat Modeling

• Lead threat modeling and risk assessments for data platforms
• Drive remediation strategies and risk mitigation plans

Identity & Access Management (IAM)

• Design and implement IAM strategies:
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC)
  • Least-privilege access models

Data Governance & Lifecycle Security

• Establish and mature data classification policies and security tiers
• Embed security across full data lifecycle:
  • Ingestion
  • Transformation
  • Storage
  • Consumption
  • Archival

Cloud & Multi-Cloud Security

• Define security requirements for cloud-native data services across:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • GCP
• Support multi-cloud and hybrid environments

Monitoring Logging & Compliance

• Design and implement:
  • Audit logging
  • Data lineage tracking
  • Monitoring solutions
• Enable:
  • Incident detection
  • Forensics
  • Compliance reporting

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with frameworks and regulations:
  • GDPR
  • CCPA
  • SOC 2
  • SOX
  • USGCB
  • FCC Decree

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Mentor engineering teams on secure data platform design
• Act as SME for data security architecture
• Evaluate and recommend security tools (DSPM DLP etc.)
• Communicate security posture and architecture decisions to technical and executive stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in information security
• 4 years in data platform or cloud data security architecture
• Deep expertise in securing:
  • Cloud data warehouses
  • Data lakes / lakehouse architectures
  • Real-time streaming systems

IAM & Security Expertise

• Strong knowledge of IAM and zero-trust principles across:
  • AWS IAM
  • Azure AD / Entra ID
  • GCP IAM

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience with:
  • Encryption technologies
  • KMS / HSM
  • Data masking and tokenization
• Proficiency in:
  • Python
  • SQL
  • Bash (or similar)

Security & Compliance Tools

• Experience with:
  • SIEM tools
  • DSPM platforms
  • DLP solutions
  • Vulnerability scanners
• Strong understanding of frameworks:
  • GDPR CCPA PCI-DSS SOC 2 SOX NIST CSF USGCB FCC Decree

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to translate technical risks into business impact

• Experience with:
