Scope of Project

This role supports the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) in maintaining and modernizing a complex Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment.

The position is critical for ensuring stability troubleshooting and performance of enterprise applications built on IBM WebSphere and related technologies and will also support modernization efforts involving Kubernetes OpenShift and Google Cloud Pak.

Responsibilities:

Architect design install configure and support SOA-based systems
Manage and support IBM WebSphere Application Server BPM and Business Automation Workflow
Design and support IBM HTTP Server and Apache environments
Install configure and manage IBM Power systems and AIX environments
Perform performance tuning capacity planning and system optimization
Monitor systems for high availability across all environments (Dev Test Prod)
Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of production issues
Support integration across applications databases and mainframe systems
Maintain and support monitoring tools such as Manage Engine Applications Manager
Implement high availability and virtualization strategies
Support Oracle WebLogic for PeopleSoft environments
Document SOA standards best practices and architecture patterns
Assist with modernization initiatives (OpenShift Kubernetes Cloud Pak)
Mentor and support internal staff on tools and processes

Required/Preferred Skills:

Required Skills:

84 months experience in design installation configuration and support of SOA products including:
- IBM WebSphere Application Server (8.5.5 9.0.5)
- IBM WebSphere Business Process Manager (7.x 8.x)
- IBM Business Automation Workflow (8.6.x 20.x or latest)
84 months experience with IBM HTTP Server (8.x 9.x) and Apache (2.2.x 2.4.x)
84 months experience with IBM Power hardware and AIX (5.x 7.x)
60 months experience with Manage Engine Applications Manager
60 months experience in performance testing tuning and capacity planning of WebSphere/AIX SOA infrastructure
60 months experience implementing high availability and virtualization of IBM AIX/WebSphere environments
60 months experience in troubleshooting and resolving WebSphere production issues
60 months experience supporting and patching Oracle WebLogic for PeopleSoft

Preferred Skills:

Experience with enterprise SOA architecture in large-scale government environments
Experience with modernization tools like Kubernetes OpenShift and Google Cloud Pak
Strong documentation and enterprise architecture experience

Education Requirement:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science IT or related field (or equivalent experience)
