Director of Perioperative Services Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Perioperative Services to lead and transform perioperative operations across multiple service lines. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned leader-or a high-performing manager ready to step into a director role-who can drive cultural change enhance collaboration and standardize processes in a fast-paced acute care environment.
The Director will oversee clinical and operational performance while fostering a culture of accountability transparency and excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities Operational & Clinical Leadership - Provide leadership for Operating Room (OR) PACU Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) GI Lab and Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
- Standardize policies procedures and perioperative workflows across departments
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and clinical best practices
Quality Compliance & Safety - Partner with infection prevention and environmental services to ensure compliance with:
- AORN standards
- CMS regulations
- ASHRAE guidelines
- National Patient Safety Goals
- Maintain readiness for regulatory surveys and audits
Financial & Operational Performance - Oversee budgets staffing models and scheduling efficiency
- Optimize resource utilization and return on investment (ROI)
- Improve operational metrics including throughput case volume and utilization
Physician & Team Collaboration - Collaborate with physicians to enhance:
- Block scheduling utilization
- Robotic surgery programs
- Pre-surgical readiness (H&P labs patient prep)
- Build a culture of teamwork transparency and shared accountability
Leadership & Development - Mentor and develop managers and frontline staff
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement innovation and engagement
- Lead change management initiatives to improve departmental performance and culture
Qualifications Required: - Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Active California Registered Nurse License
- BLS Certification
- Fire Card Certification
- Minimum 5 years of perioperative leadership experience in an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of perioperative standards regulatory compliance and quality improvement
- Proven ability to lead culture transformation and process standardization initiatives
Preferred: - Masters Degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration or related field
- Demonstrated success working with multidisciplinary surgical teams and executive leadership
