CERTIFIED SURGICAL TECH NEEDED DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Registered Nurse the surgical technologist assists in the delivery of patient care as a member of the surgical team and assumes appropriate responsibility for delivery of that care before during and after surgery. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates and implements age specific care and interaction. 1.1. Employee has attended departmental orientation (training) and annual inservice education for age specific training and implements in the work area what was learned in age specific training. 1.2. Employee maintains current competencies and certifications . 2. Patient safety. all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors. : Correct Site Procedure; Correct Counts; Fire Safety checks; All Equipment and Supplies available and ready for patient procedure. 3. Provides a sterile atmosphere before and during all surgical procedures. and supplies are opened following established procedures to maintain a sterile field. 3.2.A sterile field is set up and maintained before and during the procedure. The scrub remains aware of themselves and staff in OR suite and how they impact the sterile environment. 4. Maintains clean safe and sanitary environment before during and after all procedures. accurate sponge needle and instrument counts. Rooms are cleaned according to established procedures safe passing of instruments and sharps to and from surgeon/field minimizing potential for incident of injury or exposure.
