Software Engineer Intern, Rust UXDX

Were building a security-focused AI coding agent using Rust and WebAssembly.

The product has a working MVP and were looking for an intern who can contribute real code from week one.

This is a pre-seed venture backed by experienced enterprise software operators and founded by an ex-Google software engineer.

Tasks

Youll work on the developer experience of a Rust-based AI coding agent the CLI the terminal output the way the agent interacts with users. This is real engineering work on a real product not a side project or a learning exercise. Your code will ship to users.

Youll be working in Rust building terminal UX and learning about WebAssembly sandboxing and security models. Youll work directly with the founder.

Requirements

Required:

• Rust experience youve written Rust beyond tutorials. Personal projects coursework or contributions to open source. Show us your GitHub.
• AI-native workflow you actively use AI coding tools (Claude Code Cursor etc.) in your daily work and youre genuinely faster because of them. But youre also a strong code reviewer and architect. This is security software every line matters. We want AI-augmented engineers not vibe coders.
• Shipped something at least one project that other people have used. Internships where you shipped code count.
• Comfort with the terminal you live in the command line not just visit it.

Preferred:

• Previous internship(s) at a software company
• Experience with terminal UI (ratatui crossterm ncurses etc.)
• WebAssembly familiarity
• Interest in security cryptography or systems programming

About You:

Youre a student or recent grad who builds things. Your GitHub has projects with commit histories that show iteration not just initial dumps. Youre not a vibe coder youre an excellent engineer who has adapted to the AI landscape. Youve done at least one internship where you wrote code that shipped. Youre excited about Rust developer tools and AI and you want to work at a startup where your work matters immediately.
