Seeking 3 month or 6 month Co-Ops ( May 2026- December 2026)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum second year students working towards Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. A strong technical aptitude along with the ability to work independently yet interact closely with maintenance technicians production crew and vendors. Special Metals Dunkirk is seeking a candidate with strong cross functional team skills. Excellent verbal written and computer skills required as well as mathematical analytical problem solving and organizations skills. Must be able to read prints and schematic drawing and have a working proficiency with solid works.
Intern position will be flexible to work around breaks weekly school schedule etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Co-ops for maintenance engineering contribute to the overall success of the organization by assisting with day-to-day activities continuous improvement and maintenance reliability addition to helping with minor tasks such as parts procurement data entry and paperwork they are able to drive improvements to enhance our maintenance program through procedure and training updates. Many of the continuous improvement/6S projects have tasks that are able to be completed by the co-ops. Furthermore co-ops are assigned at least one project that stretches their skills and has an higher impact to the organization. Past examples include die cell lifting device tooling fixture for hammer dies hose and fitting inventory consolidation. These assignments not only help Special Metals but also provide a worthwhile experience to the co-op.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk twist turn talk and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit kneel stoop bend and use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
