Job Summary

Summary:
Plant City Area. The Trades Worker Multi will assist higher-level personnel in the performance of a variety of miscellaneous mechanical and building trade functions. The Trades Worker Multi will perform under direction less difficult tasks such as replace defective electrical switches paint structures repair woodwork replace and repair plumbing fixtures replace plaster lay brick and/or other related minor maintenance to district facilities. The Trades Worker Multi is a non-OTETA (Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act) position.

Responsibilities:
Assists in the repairs and adjustment to carpentry plumbing water lines electrical wiring equipment drywall sheet metal plastering ceramic tile furniture shelves doors door frames masonry glazing windows painting fencing irrigation landscaping locks roofing HVAC and other related minor maintenance or repair to property or machines/tools of various kinds to district-owned buildings and facilities.

Assists other maintenance departments and/or consultants in troubleshooting of miscellaneous repair projects required in all district facilities.

Determines equipment tools and performs calculations for materials necessary to complete assigned duties.

Coordinates projects and tasks with school staff as applicable for instance informs site personnel of what materials to remove from surfaces and schedule move of students to separate locations.

Maintains timely and accurate information regarding inventory records of assigned service vehicle tools and equipment.

Moves places and provides safe operation of ladders and general work habits.

Possesses a general understanding of miscellaneous maintenance tools and their basic use and operation in a safe manner consistent with current district and OSHA regulations.

Assists with installs routine maintenance alters and repairs trade-related components in district facilities.

Operates all hand tools and power tools to perform functions for specific trades.

Adheres to principles and practices of safe use including but not limited to operation of equipment tools materials and district-owned vehicles including maintenance of such equipment of tools.

Performs clean up and worksite restoration activities such as pick up excess repair materials clean flooring replace furniture and wipe down surfaces.

Responds to emergency call-outs after hours.

Attends training required by the district to keep abreast of current technology relevant to these trades.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in two (2) or more trades.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a valid a Class E drivers license and comply with districts Safe Driver Plan.

Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.

Mathematical Skills: Adds subtracts multiplies and divides in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Computes rate ratio and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing walking sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching bending crawling handling keyboarding fingering feeling talking hearing depth perception color vision and field of vision.

Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds. Over 55 pounds must be a 2 person or assisted lift.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 4 loud; extreme cold extreme heat wet/humid work with cleaning chemicals wear eye protection vibration/impact work with or near heavy equipment proximity to moving mechanical parts exposure to electrical shock and working in high exposed places.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Testing: eligibility for interview requires the successful passing of a written and/or physical test verifying knowledge of basic terms and/or tools and their use.
