The Department of Economic Security Division of Technology Services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as an Intern. This position will serve as an Information Security Intern. This position applies threat assessment and investigative skills in a highly technical setting to locate malware and cyber threats on a large enterprise network notify affected end users or division contact generate reports and metric criteria offer assistance and explanations of threats to end users as needed. The Information Security Intern also collaborates on policy and compliance reviews under the guidance of Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) supervision and may perform application research reporting and reviews.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments needs and continual meetings of expected performance measures.

| Job Duties: |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Gaining hands on practical experience of cyber operations and other IT department responsibilities.
Providing tier one support to deliver appropriate action and resolutions on incidents and events.
Developing skills and procedures to effectively identify detect contain eradicate recover and document cyber incidents in an enterprise environment to effectively defend against cyber threats.
Learning essential cyber security activities relative to their impact on staff safety and security and recommending appropriate communication applying specific protocols and practices to reduce staff risk and vulnerability.
Assist with identifying appropriate security mitigations vulnerability scanning and reporting and presenting any concerns.
Performing malware and cyber threat hunting Security analytic tool best practices vulnerability scanning and reporting.
Utilizing tools and resources to locate cyber threats working with a team of people with a cyber security focus providing regular updates and contributing to team success with ongoing projects.
Attending meetings and offering input and suggestions when appropriate.

Knowledge of:
Information security fundamentals.
Networking fundamentals (OSI layers firewalls and TCP/IP stack).
Basic database operations operating systems information security essentials and scripting languages.
Skills In:
Being detail orientated critical thinking and working in a fast-paced technical setting.

Interpersonal written and oral communications.
Ability to:
Balance prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
Work collaboratively to build strong relationships within the organization.

| Pre-Employment Requirements: |
Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Must provide a letter of recommendation from a Professor or Guidance Counselor.
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agencys ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business then the following requirements apply: Drivers License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
