Job Summary
The Commercial HVAC & Plumbing Service Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for service repair and small project work related to commercial heating ventilation air conditioning and plumbing systems. This role works closely with service managers technicians and clients to ensure timely competitive and profitable proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review service requests drawings specifications and site conditions to develop accurate cost estimates
- Perform site visits to assess scope of work materials labor and equipment requirements
- Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC and plumbing service repairs retrofits and small projects
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Generate professional proposals and bids for clients
- Collaborate with service managers and field teams to clarify scope and pricing
- Track and follow up on submitted estimates and proposals
- Maintain cost databases pricing tools and historical data for estimating accuracy
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve cost efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of experience in HVAC and/or plumbing estimating service or field operations
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and technical documents
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills a MUST
- Valid drivers license (for site visits)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in commercial service estimating (as opposed to large construction projects)
- Familiarity with service management or dispatch software
- Knowledge of local codes and regulations
- Background as a technician transitioning into estimating
