DescriptionThis award will advance the tradition of Fisk Alumnus W.E.B. DuBois to shape the evolving data science and tech fields toward ensuring full and equitable access to Black communities both as consumers and addition to working at the JLCSJ the Fellow will help guide university initiatives in advanced data science and socially responsive AI technologies. The fellowship provides up to 24 months of support. Our preference is for a scholar who recently received their doctorate or is in the late ABD stage. The fellowship provides up to 24 months of support. This fellowship is part of a new initiative hosted by the John Lewis Center for Social Justice called the Highest Calling Social Justice Initiative.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The award requires the fellow to reside in Middle Tennessee throughout the duration of the fellowship. The Fellow will produce the following output:
a) Up to three course offerings over the course of the two-year fellowship;
b) One community engagement activation e.g. hackathon exhibition action-based research project etc.;
c) Narrate their Fisk experience across audiences e.g. social media press etc.;
d) Provide overview of activities in support of a comprehensive annual report for the Center.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
We are seeking a scholar with a background advanced data science and technology.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
None
QualificationsEducation:Our preference is for a scholar who received their doctorate or is late stage ABD.
Additional Requirements:A background and/or credit check will be required of the successful applicant. An official transcript (if applicable) and names addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references will be required of the successful applicant.
