POSITION SUMMARY:

Husky Health Center (HHC) is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Director of Operations to lead and shape the delivery of high-quality healthcare for students on the University of Washington Seattle campus. This is a unique opportunity to influence care for tens of thousands of patients each year while working in a mission-driven student-centered this role the incumbent is a key member of the Husky Health Executive Team driving operational excellence and supporting clinical services while helping set the strategic direction for a thriving campus health center.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This role requires collaborative transparent and mission-driven leadership. The incumbent will have the ability to inspire teams and build strong working relationships. They have a commitment to innovation continuous improvement and inclusive excellence. They operate with integrity professionalism and use sound judgement.

Teams within this positions area of responsibility include the registered nurses and medical assistants patient services radiology facilities and custodial staff. This position directly supervises two direct reports the Health Services Manager and Facilities Manager for a span of control that includes most of the clinical and non-clinical support functions involved in operating a large multi-specialty campus health center.

ABOUT HUSKY HEALTH:

Husky Health Center on the UW Seattle Campus in the Division of Student Life is an AAAHC-accredited outpatient facility providing high quality health care to a primarily young adult population. As a student-focused clinical unit within the Division of Student Life we are committed to supporting the health well-being and success of UWs student population. We provide comprehensive full-spectrum primary and preventive care in over 40000 patient encounters annually. Our services include Primary and Same Day Care Physical Therapy Sports Medicine OB/GYN and Travel Medicine. We are co-located with an on-site pharmacy and a branch of the UW Medicine Laboratory and we work collaboratively with campus partners like the UW Counseling Center and Student Lifes health promotion and prevention services to provide holistic support that helps students thrive throughout their Husky experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinic Operations (80%)

  • Provide senior-level support and oversight of all clinic and facilities operations at Husky Health Center and within the David C. Hall Building ensuring efficient high-quality care for students and effective impactful approaches to student health and wellbeing

  • Lead and support multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams

  • Translate financial insights into informed operational decisions with a focus on sustainable growth and positive return-on-investment for our student constituents

  • Champion the patient experience at HHC with a commitment to our focus on how health and wellbeing contribute to student success

  • Serve as HHCs subject-matter expert on compliance accreditation quality improvement and service excellence

  • Work with UW Medicine and UW Seattle partners to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations that apply in both the university and clinical environments

  • Serve as HHCs leader for AAAHC accreditation efforts

  • Administer and maintain HHCs internal policy repository ensuring staff adherence alignment with AAAHC requirements and compliance with federal state and local laws and regulations

  • Provide mentoring and professional development to staff fostering a respectful collaborative and accountable culture where learning and growth are valued

  • Serve as a key problem-solver for complex operational and patient-care related issues

  • Serve as the HHC point-of-contact for formal business relationships with multiple UW Medicine UW Seattle and community partners. This includes serving as the designated contact for units that provide direct support to clinical and administrative functions at HHC such as for IT facilities laboratory pharmacy risk management revenue cycle support and other critical functions

  • Works with the Director of Wellness Shared Services to ensure MOUs contracts and other formal relationships are maintained and updated

  • Lead implementation of new service lines and strategic initiatives

  • Participate in Clinical Risk Management and Quality Improvement activities; address patient concerns as warranted

  • As a member of the HHC Executive Team maintains accountability for the financial success of units reporting to this position; contributes to the financial success accountability and stewardship goals of HHC as a student fee-funded unit

  • Works with the Medical Director Director of Wellness Shared Services and Executive Director to collaboratively prepare and present HHCs annual budget to the UW Seattle Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC).

  • Represent Husky Health in labor union issues and negotiations

Strategic Leadership (10%)

  • Help guide long-term strategy budgeting and program development

  • Identify opportunities for innovation growth and improved service delivery

  • Support outreach and engagement efforts to better serve the campus community

Campus Partnerships (10%)

  • Represent HHC across UW and build strong cross-campus relationships with partners such as Division of Campus Safety Division of Enrollment Management Admissions and First Year Programs Environmental Health & Safety student government and the various constituent units of the Division of Student Life

  • Lead public health initiatives and student outreach events such as testing/screening events pop-up vaccination clinics and tabling events in collaboration with university partners

  • Contribute to campus emergency preparedness and response planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in a field related to the operations of HHC

  • 3 years of management experience in either higher education or healthcare

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a budget and create financial growth and efficiency

  • Proven ability to lead complex multi-disciplinary teams and navigate employee relations

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree (MBA MHA MPH or similar)

  • 6 years of experience in senior leadership at the director or assistant director level in a similar setting

  • Experience working in college health and wellbeing

  • Background working in collaborative multidisciplinary environments

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Husky Health staff members are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work during UW closures for severe weather natural disasters or other emergency conditions.

Work hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am 5:00 pm

Telecommute: This is a 100% onsite position

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$150000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$169992.00 annual
