Job Summary:
Perform unskilled semi-skilled and skilled plumbing repairs and installations.Plan inspectrecordand oversee plumbing concerns.
Evaluate systems research solutions and order repair parts and supplies.
Essential Functions:
50-70%Perform all essential functionsof anAssistant Plumber.Assemble disassemble install replacerebuildandmaintainwater vent drain gas chemical fire sprinkler and air lines andall fixtures and devices for these lines and/or systems.
5-15% Assemble replace rebuildinstallandmaintainvalves and pipe filling and pipes.Cut threads and ream pipes using varioustools to code.
0-15% Fill pipe system with air and/or water and read pressure gauges to ensure proper working conditions.Maintain variousplumbing systems such as garbage disposals sumppumpsand water fountains.
0-10%Completeworktimeand material usage reports.Perform otherduties asassigned by superintendent/supervisor.
Additional Position Information:
Education:Requireshighschool diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications:Valid Ohio Drivers License.
Experience:
Requirescompletion of a 2-year University of Akron or other State Approved Sponsored Apprenticeship Program for Trade or aminimum of5yearsof plumbing trade tooperateand use standard powered and nonpowered plumbing tools and equipment such as cuttingthreadingand bending machines core hole machines wrenches hoisting machinery saws drills main drain machinesgrindersand testing gauges required.Ability to perform mathematics associated withtrade applications (fractions ratios percentages) required.Ability to read writeobserveand accurately follow oralwrittenand graphic instructions required.Ability to exercise judgment in determining correctcourse of action when confronted with new situations.
Leadership:
No authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 80 pounds without assistance and demonstrate bending crouching and lifting. Must be able to climb ladder scaffolding and work on rooftops.
Working Conditions:
Routine exposure to heat cold moisture/wetness inclement weathernoise airpollutionand heights.May involve exposure to chemical substances hazards and moving parts. Work schedule is subject to changein accordance withUniversityneeds and/orthe results of the shift line-up process. Overtime/call-ins may be mandatory based onUniversityneeds.
