CALENDAR: 0212-FT (10 months 10 days)
SALARY: CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL SALARY SCHEDULE
Additional information: Position is district based
Job Goal
The Mathematics Academic Coach is a content expert instructional leader who promotes access to high quality learning experiences for all CUSD students by providing direct support to teachers and school leaders with curriculum and instruction. The Academic Coach is flexible and adaptable with a high degree of organization facilitation and management. The Coach designs and implements comprehensive professional development sessions and creates K-12 curriculum and assessment resources aligned to grade level standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Highly qualified in designated content areas
Masters degree in education related field
Knowledge of state standards and researched-based instruction
Demonstrated classroom teaching ability
Demonstrated leadership skills
Core Job Functions
Provide direct support to classroom teachers with best practices backward design planning curriculum implementation data gathering reflection processes coaching and resources
Utilize content and instructional expertise as well as professional development leadership to achieve goals of the District strategic plan
Keep up to date and interpret current research curriculum development and instructional strategies
Facilitate the development of curriculum and instruction guiding documents such as curriculum maps aligned to the Arizona state standards
Communicate effectively between sites grade levels departments and district
Work closely with instructional services departments to actively seek out develop and implement new and promising best practices and/or programs to increase learning opportunities for all students
Serve as a liaison for state and national educational reforms and with other districts
Facilitate program development
Plan and facilitate professional learning focused on but not limited to content pedagogy best instructional practices curriculum UDL inquiry to ensure every student has access to rigorous learning experiences
Build teacher capacity at schools
Work effectively with principals and teachers in improving site instructional programs
Model research-based instructional techniques and strategies in the classroom as well as when conducting professional development
Support collaborative data discussions using protocols to improve classroom instruction and support the alignment of standards assessments and instructional practices
Effectively plan and teach adults in both a group and individual setting to understand and communicate the implications of the changes needed in todays public educational system
Engages in professional growth opportunities to improve and enhance mathematics and numeracy knowledge for teaching knowledge of pedagogy and effective leadership
Perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor
