Wieland is hiring a Safety Coordinator. The Safety Coordinator supports the facilitys safety program and daily administrative operations by coordinating safety initiatives supporting regulatory compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across the site while also providing administrative support to ensure efficient office operations accurate processing and organized record management. Working closely with the Operations Manager and the Business Unit Safety Health & Environment team this role helps ensure safety procedures are effectively implemented while maintaining reliable administrative processes that support the overall operational effectiveness of the facility. This position is full-time and onsite: Monday-Friday. This role is accountable for facilitating the safety program and supporting the administrative needs of the Coppell TX.
Responsibilities
Safety Responsibilities:
- Champion Safety Excellence by complying with all safety rules/processes supporting the Safety Elements and driving Wieland to be leaders in safety performance and cultural participation.
- Manage VPP certification and recertification action items.
- Coordinate and support execution of safety programs including facility inspections hazard identification activities and safety improvement initiatives.
- Promote and reinforce a strong Safety-First culture through employee engagement training support and participation in safety initiatives.
- Manage and maintain the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) certification process and related safety documentation and systems.
- Conduct or coordinate safety incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
- Prepare and submit required safety documentation to corporate safety leadership and applicable regulatory agencies.
- Monitor and respond to employee reports submitted through the safety management system and help drive resolution of identified issues.
- Facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings and support employee participation in safety discussions and initiatives.
- Coordinate regularly with the corporate Safety Health and Environment team to align on priorities share updates and implement best practices.
- Support safety initiatives and priorities as directed by the Business Unit Safety Health and Environment leadership.
Operations Responsibilities:
- Perform required work in the warehouse as directed by the Operations Manager
- Support the Operations Manager with administrative coordination and operational tasks that support daily facility activities.
- Coordinate vendor documentation and service-related records including verifying invoices confirming approvals and ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Enter and track operational vendor invoices and related documentation within the facility systems to support timely processing through Central Accounts Payable.
- Coordinate with Central Accounts Payable and internal teams to resolve discrepancies related to vendor services or documentation.
- Maintain organized facility records related to vendors operational services and administrative documentation.
- Respond to vendor and internal inquiries related to facility services operational documentation and payment status.
- Process employee expense documentation and verify required receipts and approvals in accordance with company policy.
- Support office operations by ordering and maintaining facility supplies and ensuring administrative resources are available for staff.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records related to operational activities and administrative processes.
- Provide general administrative support including document management scanning and filing to support operational efficiency.
- Support company policies related to workplace professionalism safety practices and facility standards.
Safety & Operations Coordinator Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Associate or bachelors degree in occupational safety and health Environmental Health and Safety or a related field preferred.
- Safety-related certification or coursework preferred.
- One to three years of experience in safety health or environmental compliance preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing industrial or operations environment preferred.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams or coordinating safety or operational initiatives is beneficial.
- Familiarity with OSHA and other relevant regulatory standards such as EPA DOT NFPA or ANSI preferred.
- Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn and work with operational or financial systems as needed.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with operations and safety leadership.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Frequent standing and walking within the facility.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to safely access manufacturing and operational areas of the facility as needed.
- Regular use of computers and office equipment.
- Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to approximately 10 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees vendors and leadership.
