The Issue Management Sr. Manager is a senior leader within the First Line Risk & Control Office accountable for the First Line of Defense (FLoD) Issue Management Program. The role oversees the end-to-end issue lifecycle (identification assessment remediation validation and reporting and drives consistent governance metrics and executive reporting. Success in this position typically requires deep financial services controls experience strong stakeholder management across all lines of businesses and the ability to deliver sustainable improvements to the firms control environment.
Drive proactive and timely identification management and oversight of issues per firm requirements
Identification of thematic root causes underlying control failure/s and facilitating the planning and execution of effective remediation of control gaps
Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve roadblocks and facilitate solutioning with senior leaders
Development implementation maintenance and management of the Issue Management application (System of Record)
Design and implement of issue management reporting for senior leadership to identify trends emerging risks and actionable items in the risk and controls environment
Liaise within the organization to ensure connectivity with enterprise-wide issue management efforts to enhance Western Alliance safety and soundness
Development of strong relationships with key stakeholders
Proactive engagement with control functions to ensure understanding of the First Line of Defense governance program
Focus on continuous control improvements across all areas to enable the evolutionary design of the overall control framework in an efficient cost effective streamlined and value-add manner
What youll need:
Bachelors degree in information security Computer ScienceTechnologyorarelated field
10 years of experience in Financial Services and First Line Risk Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk
Expertisein technology risk and controls industry bestpracticesand applicable frameworks such as NIST ISOand COBIT
Experience inTechnology cybersecurity or technology risk management disciplines
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills (a must) and the ability to translate complex concepts in a concise manner
Openness to continuously challenging the status quo
Demonstrated leader capable of driving change and developing a high-performing team
Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced highly matrix dynamic environment
Self-motivated highly adaptive and able to work well under high stress
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Industry certifications such as CISSP CISM CISA or CRISC a plus
