Description of Work

This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor NC. This position is responsible for supervising the Correctional Food Service Officers and Maintaining the presentation of meals to the offenders at the facility that are safe healthy and properly prepared. Duties Include:
- Communicating verbally and in writing.
- Comprehend and abide by verbal and written instructions.
- Working a varied schedule & returning to work during emergencies.
- Effectively subdue and restrain violent offenders; tolerate verbal and mental abuse from offenders.
- Distinguish color codes used for emergencies and security purposes.
- Secure and maintain equipment observe sanitary food handling practices; understand nutritional values.
- Inventory & rotate stock complete and maintain work schedules for subordinates; requisition food and supplies within budget; identify and coordinate training.
- Make emergency decisions concerning food service operations; plan and develop operating procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services in management of a commercial food service operations or as a Correctional Officer or three years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.EEO Statement
