Description

The project manager provides professional engineering architecturaloversight andconstruction industry procurement and overall real property stewardship within Mayo Clinic. Must have familiaritywithregulatory guidelines and codes. Reviews construction for compliance with designguidelinesand governing codes. Meets with local building officialsfire marshalsdepartmentsof health and regulatory institutions such as The Joint Commission. Looked upon as the Owners real property steward and oversees Mayo Clinics buildingsreal estatedevelopmentand master planning activities with facility evaluations equipmentplanningand procurement. Implements institutional directions as the Owners contracting officer using advanced negotiations skills and various contracting options. The positionis responsible forleading projectobjectivesthat haverisk to the organization andaccomplishingtheir completion on time within budget and according to the approved project -solving and decision-making activities. Establishes implementation plansbudgetsleadsand provides direction in the development and tracking of project budgets and schedules. Provides matrix supervision of staff from both internal and collaborating Mayo departments external consultants and contractor/vendor resources. The project manager must have extensive organization and planning skills and be able to manage and organize a large and diversework loadwith a wide variety of tasks simultaneously and efficiently. Requires good decision-making and judgment capabilities with excellent attention to detail and follow through. Must have strong interpersonalverbaland written communication skillsand havepresentation skills to address both large and small groups including committeeswith a variety of methods. Collaborates with all departments and corporations within Mayo Clinic and must be able to work with a wide range of cultural sensitivity to internationalpartnersand clients when working on variousforeign basedprojects. Has a working knowledge of Mayo Facilities and can impart knowledge ofthem orconsult with other Project Managers locally or within the enterprise to gain knowledge for a particular project or serve on committees with administrative assignments and support business evaluations and financial effect analyses. Must beadaptable/flexibleto varying international requirementsand may be givenadditionalassignments notidentifiedabove. The incumbent shall be able to adapt project support based on fluctuating workload of Facilities Project project manager must have or become a subject matter expert in a variety of areas related to construction andthe medicalpractice along with having the ability to coordinate with other peers who are subject matter experts in different areas.

This individualis responsible forachieving the costscheduleand qualityobjectivesof projects assigned by the Division Chair SectionHeadorDirector. Advises Chair Directoror Section Headand administrative staff of projectprogress andworks proactively with internal and external groups to successfully manage all phases of the process which includes initiationprogrammingapprovalsand may includeconstruction and occupancycoordinationas welland will vary by the project and location. Ensures that user group needs are addressed duringdesignphase and apprises users of project progress during design and construction phases. Capable oftimelydecision making and building unique teamscomprisedof internal groups and outside resources. Manages assigned multiple Facilities projects simultaneously. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. The responsibilities of this position may require the individual toprovide off-hours general oversight of assigned projects or crisismanagementsometimes associated with project or construction activity.

The International Project Manager must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of their time in support ofthe may increase or decrease depending on businessneed.

This position will report to the Mayo Clinic location closest to where the employee selected currently resides. More details to be shared during the interview process.



Qualifications

A minimum of a BS Degree in Engineering orArchitectureor Construction Managementwith five or more years of Engineering or Architectural working experiencein Health care industry. The degree must be recognized within the prerequisite requirementsfor Professional Licensure.
