What this job involves
We are seeking a qualifiedState Licensed Electricianto join our professional team in Mobile Alabama.This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse electrical projects ranging from new installations to complex troubleshooting and repairs. The ideal candidate will bring strong technicalexpertise commitment to safety excellence and the ability to deliver quality electrical work whilemaintainingcompliance with allapplicable codes and regulations. This role is essential to our continued growth and reputation for electrical excellence throughout the Mobile region. This position involves performing skilled electrical installation maintenance and repair work on commercial and industrial projects throughout the Mobile Alabama area. As a licensed electrician youll work independently and as part of a team to install electrical systems troubleshoot complex problems ensure code compliance and maintain high-quality standards on all projects. Youll be responsible for interpreting technical drawings calculating electrical loads responding to emergency service calls and mentoring junior team members while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Installing maintaining and repairing electrical wiring equipment fixtures panels transformers and systems in accordance with NEC and Alabama State electrical codes
Reading and interpreting blueprints electrical schematics and technical specifications to plan installations and calculate load requirements voltage drops and material needs
Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical malfunctions using multimeters megohmmeters thermal imaging cameras and other testing equipment to resolve issues efficiently
Performing preventive maintenance on electrical systems motors controls and equipment while responding to emergency service calls on a rotating on-call schedule
Ensuring all work complies with current electrical codes obtaining necessary permits coordinating inspections and following OSHA safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures
Completing accurate documentation including job reports time sheets material usage records and work orders while maintaining effective communication with project managers supervisors and customers
Maintaining company vehicles tools and equipment in good working condition and participating in ongoing professional development to stay current with electrical technologies and code updates
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Regularly lift and carry materials tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance
Stand and walk for extended periods typically 6-8 hours per day on concrete steel or uneven surfaces
Frequently climb ladders scaffolding and stairs; work from aerial lifts and elevated platforms at heights up to 40 feet
Regularly bend stoop kneel crouch and crawl in confined or awkward spaces including attics crawl spaces and electrical vaults
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including extreme heat (90F) high humidity (70-90%) cold rain and direct sunlight typical of coastal Alabama
Daily exposure to energized electrical circuits (120V to 480V or higher) construction dust debris and moderate to high noise levels requiring hearing protection
Standard hours Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM with overtime as needed (typically 5-15 hours per week) and participation in emergency on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend service calls (typically 1 week per month)
Constantly reach overhead and perform precise hand and finger movements for wire termination and detailed electrical work
Vision requirements include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and ability to identify wire colors and read technical drawings
Daily use of required PPE including safety glasses hard hat steel-toed boots high-visibility clothing work gloves and arc-rated clothing when performing energized work
Local travel throughout Mobile County and surrounding areas using company vehicles; overnight travel rare but may be required for specialized projects
Ability to respond to emergency service calls within 1 hour when on-call and work during severe weather events for emergency restoration efforts
Required Qualifications:
Valid Alabama State Electrical License - Journeyman classification (minimum required); Master Electrician preferred
Valid Alabama drivers license with clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years; no DUI/DWI)
Minimum 5 years of documented electrical experience as a licensed electrician with demonstrated experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
Thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) 2023 edition and comprehensive understanding of Alabama State Electrical Code requirements
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints electrical schematics and technical specifications with expertise in single-phase and three-phase electrical systems (120V - 480V)
Expert use of standard electricians hand tools power tools and electrical test equipment including multimeters megohmmeters and clamp meters
Strong knowledge of OSHA construction safety standards lockout/tagout procedures arc flash safety and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Alabama Master Electrician or Unlimited Master Electrician License
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification CPR/First Aid certification Confined Space Entry certification and aerial platform operator certifications
7 years of comprehensive electrical experience across multiple project types including large-scale commercial or industrial projects
Experience with motor controls variable frequency drives (VFDs) industrial automation systems PLCs and low-voltage systems including fire alarm security and building automation
Specialized experience in marine electrical systems petrochemical facilities hazardous locations (Class I Div 1/2) healthcare facilities or data center infrastructure
Manufacturer-specific certifications (Schneider Electric Allen-Bradley Siemens) NICET certification in electrical systems or solar PV installation certification (NABCEP)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills electrical project estimation and bidding experience or supervisory/lead electrician experience
