The Pharmacy Technician Refill Technician is responsible for managing medication refill requests processing prescriptions and supporting pharmacists in delivering safe accurate and timely patient care. This role focuses on refill coordination insurance processing and maintaining efficient workflow within the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Process prescription refill requests in accordance with pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements
Review patient profiles for accuracy allergies drug interactions and refill eligibility
Communicate with patients healthcare providers and insurance companies regarding refill authorizations and clarifications
Enter and update prescription information in the pharmacy management system
Assist with prior authorizations and insurance adjudication issues
Prepare label and package medications under pharmacist supervision
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with provincial/state and federal regulations
Monitor refill queues and prioritize urgent or time-sensitive medications
Provide excellent customer service to patients addressing refill inquiries and concerns
Assist with inventory management including tracking refill stock and notifying staff of shortages
Qualifications:
Pharmacy Technician certification or diploma from an accredited program
Active registration with the appropriate regulatory body (if required e.g. provincial college)
Previous pharmacy experience preferred especially in refill or high-volume settings
Strong knowledge of pharmacy software systems and insurance processing
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and customer service abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
