Position Summary:

Role Summary

Product knowledge of Marders plants products and services is a fundamental requirement of the Retail Cashier Associate role. Drive sales by exceeding selling and service expectations while supporting checkout operations as a register facilitator. Must be able to work weekends.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

To give the customer the best experience. ensure all team members know all Marders products.

Maintain strong knowledge of Marders plant material products and services and be able to describe them clearly to customers.

Educate clients on plant care proper soil conditions fertilizers and organic gardening practices.

Maintain knowledge of Annuals Perennials Trees & Shrubs.

Make an authentic first impression to welcome and connect with customers doing what it takes to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for our clients.

Support floor sales by recommending additional related products and identifying add-on opportunities for customers.

Review the daily sales report and track progress toward daily and weekly sales goals.

Execute register transactions and operate the POS system as needed to support floor sales.

Use store systems radios and phones effectively.

Assist the Merchandising Manager in maintaining visually compelling plant and product displays that meet Marders merchandising standards.

Assist in tagging replenishing and offloading as needed to support receiving and operational tasks as directed.

Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues while using Acumatica and established clienteling protocols to conduct daily clienteling and follow-up.

Share feedback insights and ideas with the management team and voice concerns constructively as they occur.

Understand the importance of environmental issues and support company efforts to enforce recycling reduction of plastic and waste (including proper separation of compost plastics glass paper and food waste).

Be available during peak business periods including weekends holidays and special events.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

REGISTER FACILITATOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Operate the register efficiently while ensuring accurate transactions and a balanced drawer at the end of each shift.

Support a seamless checkout experience so sales associates can continue assisting customers on the sales floor.

Process product tags and transactions efficiently to maintain a smooth checkout flow.

Maintain a clean and organized register area to support efficient customer transactions.

Answer customer questions when appropriate or direct customers to the appropriate sales associate or department for expert assistance.

Assist with houseplant sales as product knowledge develops consulting a sales associate or department expert when needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12 years of customer service experience in retail or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Experience using a POS system and handling customer transactions.
  • Interest in plants gardening or organic growing practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic relationships with customers.
  • May be required to lift 25 lbs.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods.
