Sr. Network Engineer – Network Observability

As a Senior Network Observability Engineer specializing in Network Tools you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of Visas global network monitoring and management platforms. This role is focused on engineering administering and optimizing commercial off-the-shelf network monitoring management and automation solutions while also leveraging automation frameworks cloud-native architectures and Generative AI (GenAI) to maximize operational uptime and efficiency.

You will design and implement enhancements that fuse commercial software with in-house automation enabling predictive analytics and automated incident response as well as driving efficiency gains. Your expertise will allow you to develop and refine workflows that incorporate cloud scalability AI-driven insights and infrastructure-as-code ensuring our monitoring and fault management platforms remain state-of-the-art.

Collaboration is essential. Youll partner closely with internal architecture engineering operations and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions that are both robust and innovative. Your role will be pivotal in guiding the transformation of Visas network monitoring and configuration management into highly automated and resilient infrastructures.

• Provide robust tooling solutions to help ensure network reliability performance and security compliance.
• Automating network monitoring operations to minimize manual intervention and reduce downtime.
• Providing actionable analytics and reporting to inform network strategy and troubleshooting.
• Collaborating with networking security and IT teams to address evolving infrastructure needs.
• Reducing incident volume and providing root cause via automated triage and event correlation.
• Integrating AI and GenAI into solutions to accelerate automation and improve diagnostics

This role will be responsible for:

• Engineering and operating network monitoring and automation tools (e.g. NetBrain SevOne ITNM).
• Helping to design and implement enhancements that integrate commercial software with in-house applications and automation.
• Implementing predictive analytics and automated incident response.
• Providing root cause and reducing alert noise through event correlation.
• Supporting configuration audits and compliance reporting.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:
2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree OR 5 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD)
• Hands-on expertise in programming and scripting using Python or similar languages and automating workflows with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong proficiency with Linux operating systems in production environments
• Hands-on experience engineering deploying and operating vendor-purchased off-the-shelf network monitoring solutions (e.g. SevOne ITNM Netscout NetBrain).
• Strong skills in database management including SQL and the integration of diverse data sources for comprehensive monitoring.
• Understanding of SNMP syslog and modern observability tools (Prometheus Grafana ELK) including their orchestration in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments.
• Proficiency in integrating monitoring solutions with cloud services (AWS Azure GCP).
• Proven experience leveraging AI and GenAI technologies to improve efficiency.
• Track record of driving operational excellence by creating automated systems and integrations.
• Experience managing enterprise ITSM platforms for incident request and change management in 24x7 environments.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead complex incident resolution and root cause analysis.

Additional Information :

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 104600.00 to 162300.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
