Job Summary
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a visionary technology leader to serve as Head of Debit Technology responsible for driving the modernization of one of the largest debit platforms in North America. This role will lead end-to-end technology strategy architecture and delivery for debit card systems that power millions of daily transactions across ATM POS web mobile and IVR channels.
The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership guiding a global team through a multi-year transformation journey that includes authorization flow modernization settlement and mainframe migration and card management platform upgrades.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a critical role in this transformation enabling predictive analytics fraud detection intelligent routing and customer experience personalization.
In this role you will lead:
Modernization Leadership:
Own and execute the debit technology modernization roadmap ensuring scalability resiliency and security.
Drive migration from legacy mainframe systems to modern cloud-enabled architectures.
Oversee completion of settlement and card management modernization initiatives.
AI-Driven Innovation:
Integrate AI and machine learning into debit platforms to enhance fraud prevention transaction monitoring and risk management.
Leverage AI for predictive analytics to optimize authorization flows and reduce transaction latency.
Implement AI-powered personalization for customer interactions across digital channels
Technology Strategy & Delivery:
Define and implement technology strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Lead architecture decisions for high-volume transaction processing systems with a focus on performance and reliability.
Champion adoption of modern engineering practices (DevOps CI/CD microservices API-first design)
Team & Stakeholder Leadership:
Build and inspire high-performing global engineering teams.
Foster a culture of accountability innovation and collaboration across technology and business partners.
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives on technology trends and modernization progress
Customer Experience & Risk Management:
Ensure debit platforms deliver seamless secure and intuitive experiences for millions of customers.
Implement robust cybersecurity and risk management frameworks for payment systems.
Required Qualifications:
8 years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience training military experience education
4 years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
15 years in technology including 5 years managing large-scale payment or debit card platforms.
Proven success in application modernization cloud enablement and digital transformation with strong knowledge of high-availability systems and transaction processing.
Expertise in payment systems settlement processes card management platforms and modern architectures (AWS APIs microservices).
Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in fraud prevention predictive analytics and customer experience personalization.
Ability to influence at all levels lead global cross-functional teams and drive innovation with a passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
