Job Summary
Position Purpose:
The GIS & ASSET MANAGEMENT INTERN role within the organization will take on projects from initiation to completion during the extent of their time with the team. The successful candidate will have visibility across many functional groups (water quality engineering operations maintenance etc.) and will continuously observe safety guidelines follow standard operating procedures and assist with process improvement projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is interested in water quality and/or environmental sciences to get hands-on industry experience in municipal water and to be introduced to different careers in the water industry.
Internships at Veolia: Gain hands-on experience in at least one career function from Corporate Engineering Maintenance Manufacturing Operations Sales Supply Chain or Technology.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works with GIS & Asset Management staff on field and/or facility data collection. Interns will be trained on field safety equipment handling Veolias Asset Management and GIS environments and the basics of desktop GPS (Global Positioning System) data processing or GIS editing. This position would be beneficial for technical applicants who are interested in learning more about how Asset Management and GIS supports the utility industry.
- Executes other tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
- Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility to supervisors in a timely manner.
- May be asked to analyze asset management data using computer software produce findings draw conclusions and prepare oral and written recommendations to management.
- Internships are focused on learning and exposure to fundamental business processes and procedures.
Work Environment:
- Ability to participate in fieldwork in various weather conditions.
- Ability to participate in laboratory work at water treatment plants.
Qualifications :
Education/Experience/Background:
- Rising Junior Senior or recent graduate pursuing a Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. GIS Environmental Science Engineering Computer Science).
- Minimum of a 3.0 Cumulative G.P.A is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication skills including written verbal listening presentation and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Ability to use Microsoft excel and/or google sheets to analyze data.
- Be a self-starter have attention to detail be able to work independently and as part of a team and be an excellent communicator.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Valid Drivers License is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE); safety glasses safety shoes gloves hearing protection hardhat etc.
Additional Information :
Pay Range: $18.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Benefits: Interns are considered temporary employees. Medical and basic life insurance coverage is available to temporary employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week immediately following 60 days of service. Employees must elect or waive medical coverage within 45 days of their eligibility date. Veolia observes 11 holidays.
