DescriptionInova Loudoun Hospital is seeking a Director of the Magnet Program to lead nursing excellence and drive Magnet re-designation initiatives.
The Director Magnet Program oversees system preparation for the American Nurses Credentialing Center site visit. Interprets the American Nurses Association standards of practice and code of ethics for the organization while facilitating their integration. Coordinates Magnet education and staff development. Facilitates the development of shared governance and shared decision-making participating in system-level Magnet committees. Coordinates the Magnet application documentation re-designation and biannual reports. Serves as a resource to customers regarding Magnet standards and processes while serving as an advisor to nursing leadership regarding Magnet standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively which may include but not limited to preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organizations goals ensuring legal compliance communicating and collaborating with stakeholders managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
- Promotes strategic planning while addressing the implementation of Magnet standards.
- Negotiates services and resources to meet nursing division objectives.
- Facilitates the development of a shared governance and shared decision-making system. Makes recommendations to appropriate committees regarding shared governance model. Facilitates education/training for shared governance system.
- Provides guidance and mentoring for nurse committee leaders and members. Models the Magnet philosophy throughout the organization. Delivers consultations to other divisions and services. Works with marketing and public relations to produce Magnet-related publicity materials. Supports staff in the development of unit based communications publications and educational programs regarding nursing and Magnet yearly objectives.
Minimum Requirements:
Licensure - Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
Experience: Three years of clinical experience. Three years of progressive management experience. Experience with professional standards. Prior experience leading organizations to successful Magnet Designation and Re-designation.
Education - Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing
