Job Summary
The Department of Surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief Division of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief of Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital.
This is a combined divisional and hospital leadership role for an accomplished pediatric surgeon who is prepared to build upon an already strong and cohesive program and guide it to its next phase as a nationally pre-eminent world-class pediatric surgical enterprise. The Division is clinically robust culturally healthy and academically productive with a solid foundation upon which to further elevate impact and reputation.
The position will be focused on the success and development of the faculty across missions; active engagement in institutional and departmental leadership; a deep understanding of the role of culture in organizational performance; and the ability to lead both strategically and operationally to advance Division objectives. Mentoring faculty and identifying and promoting opportunities for Pediatric Surgery faculty and trainees will be central to this role.
As Surgeon-in-Chief the position will play an integral role in the operational and continued advancement of Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital. They must be committed to fostering collaboration across Pediatric Surgery and pediatric subspecialties and to promoting meaningful partnerships across the School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health System in support of clinical care education and research.
The successful candidate will serve as both Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief of the Yale New Haven Childrens Hospital. They will be an accomplished and recognized leader in the field have a track record of clinical excellence and success in research and education and possess excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a collaborative leadership style coupled with an ability to innovate and continue to build a top-ranked program in one of the most vibrant academic institutions in the nation. The Department of Surgery is experiencing a renewed period of academic and clinical growth under its Chair Dr. Benjamin Judson and accordingly enhancing the clinical footprint and scholarly activity of the Division is a departmental priority.
Qualified candidates will:
Hold a medical degree (MD MD/MPH MD/MBA MD/PhD) or equivalent
Be board certified in Surgery with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Surgery
Be eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut
Qualify for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the Yale University School of Medicine
Demonstrate national recognition and leadership potential within Pediatric Surgery
