| Job Description: | TheUF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the onlyone at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center we span all of the University of Floridas 16 colleges pulling together a world-class multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As aGenetic Counseling Internat the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI) you willbe responsibleforassistinggenetic counselors and clinicsupervisor screening patients for genetic counseling and building relationships between patients and the Hereditary Cancer Program. In your new role you willbe responsible forthe following: - Assistinggenetic counselors and screening patients for genetic counseling.
- Assistingwith administering the Institutes Progeny database including inputting patient information medical history and demographics.
- Preparing patient records forcancergenetic testing and research testing.
- Guiding patients through the genetictesting process including assisting with obtaining informed consent completing paperwork andfacilitatingsample collections.
This is an intern-level position ideal for candidates withan interest in gaining experience in genetic counseling and exploring its application in cancer in these rolesoperateas part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida.A complete job description will be providedtocandidates selected forinterview. |

| Required Qualifications: | Knowledge/Experience: - Enrollment in a relevant degree program with an interest in health awareness genetics and/or counseling.
Skills/Abilities: - Proficiencywith the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a professional healthcare environment.

| Preferred: | Knowledge/Experience: - Experience with Progeny software or other pedigree drawing applications.
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system.
Qualities: - Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work proactively and independently.
