Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the operation of high tonnage forging presses ensuring proper setup alignment and temperature control of the forging dies as well as monitoring for safe and quality compliant forging processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review dies setup sheets/drawings procedure sheets and implement processes
Verify proper setup alignment lubrication and temperature control of the forging dies per press procedures
Monitor furnace and tooling temperatures to ensure process compliance
Observe and notify of any press level forging deviations
Input the correct D.N.C program and part and serial numbers into press controls
Report equipment issues to maintenance
Maintain clean and safe work areas
Assist and direct the forge crew during press operations
Record production data in the applicable process forms

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to operate heavy machinery
Attention to detail
Basic computer skills
Safety awareness
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED and 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. EXPERIENCE:
Experience operating forging presses or similar heavy machinery preferred
Relevant work experience operating machine tools including numerical control and manual lathes and machining centers
Proficiency in reading blueprints interpreting specifications and understanding machine instructions.

WORK CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions extreme cold and extreme heat.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

HOURS:1ST (6am-2pm) 2ND (2pm-10pm) 3RD (10pm-6am)

Other: Must be able to work any shift. 1st shift 6am-2pm 2nd shift 2pm-10pm 3rd shift 10pm-6am

NOTES: Starting rate for this position is $26.00 per hour base. If an assigned to an off shift the employee would also receive $1.00 shift pay.
