Position: Health Information Management Technology Adjunct Instructor

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Division of Life Sciences & Public Safety

Reports to: Program Chair for Health Information Management Technology & Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Using appropriate teaching testing and grading techniques.
  • Using effective written and oral communication skills testing and grading techniques
  • Demonstrating current knowledge of health information management technology processes procedures regulations and information technology applications.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of CAHIIM standards; and aligning course competencies and student learning outcomes of HIMT courses with CAHIIM domains.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Must be certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or professional experience with demonstrated knowledge of ICD10-CM/PCS CPT-4 HCPCS and healthcare revenue cycle management.
  • Display strong written and oral skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with 3M coding software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the BlackBoard learning management system and online instruction.
  • Previous teaching experience with demonstrated knowledge of student learning outcome evaluation.
