Job Type Description
Vacancies exist forup to three (3) speech/language therapists with the possibility of up to four (4) based upon student enrollment/needs for pre-school/school-age students in the critical skills areas as identified on their IEPs for the Special Education Extended School Year Program at the Academic Learning Center and/orOrchard View Intermediate School. Qualifications include West Virginia certification in speech pathology K-12.

Successful applicants will provide speech/language services to students in locations to be determined along with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary Schedule
Berkeley County Schools Teacher Pay Scale based upon verified degree level and verified years of experience. Plus index and ASHA certification stipend.

Sick Leave Bonus

Extended contract days (summer school) will become a part of the number of days worked in a fiscal year and affect allowable days absent. Employees working extended contracts (summer school) who take leave without pay (dock) personal leave (leave without cause)personal illness bereavement maternity leave and labor action (strike) shall constitute days absent toward eligibility in participation in sick leave bonus pay.

Qualifications Requirements

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to be a qualified and effective candidate for the vacancy.

Masters degree and holds or can obtain West Virginia Department of Education student support license as a speech/language pathologist for grades PreK-12. This is a separate license and in addition to ASHA and WV Board of Examiners.

Additional Job Information
The possession of an out-of-state license in speech language issued by the appropriate department of education licensing body may be considered for reciprocity.

Licensure can be reviewed if the state a program was completed in does not have a department of education speech pathology certification requirement.

A Speech Asst. will be considered for this position if a certified Speech Path. does not apply.
